 A sad outlook for Christmas

A sad outlook for Christmas

16 Dec, 2009 08:54 AM
Christmas is a time for giving to those less fortunate than yourself, but at the Salvation Army it appears some people are hindering efforts to help make the festive season as good as can be.

It is a regular occurrence for staff at the salvos to turn up to work and find items scattered from one side of the building to the other.

It is a disappointing outlook for a charity who donates the money from their work back into the community.

To help reduce this problem, the Young Salvation Army have security cameras and are working with police to minimise the amount of stolen or destroyed goods.

People destroying and stealing the goods is just one of the problems the local charity face.

People are also using the Salvation Army as a dumping site for their broken goods, which are clearly useless to anyone else.

The Salvation Army enjoys being able to assist people in the community and if locals continue to dump their garbage at the Salvation Army it will take away from the services they provide because it adds a financial burden.

The charity will continue to work closely with police to catch those who continually abuse and hinder the work they do
