COOTAMUNDRA Local Area Command detectives are examining human remains found on a property at Koorawatha.
The remains found were found at 9:30am on Sunday morning in a dry creek bed on a property near Pipe Clay Road, north-east of Young.
It was found by two males who happened to be passing through bushland, and who subsequently reported the find to police.
Detective Inspector Dean Smith from Cootamundra Local Area Command (LAC) said the discovery was being treated as suspicious at this stage.
“Most of the bones have been seized for forensic analysis however police will be continuing their search for more,” Detective Inspector Smith said.
“We are dealing with some skeletal remains and as such we haven’t been able to establish a cause of death.
“Until such time as we complete our search, gather all our evidence, we will be treating the discovery or the death as suspicious,” said Detective Inspector Smith said.
