Do your bit for police

COOTAMUNDRA Local Area Command (LAC) is calling of members of the public to participate in the Volunteers in Policing program (VIP), which will require participants to work from either Young, Cootamundra or Tumut police stations.

Volunteers will assist police in performing a range of duties including victim care, assisting witnesses attending court and taking part in a range of community based policing program.

The NSW Police Force provides training to volunteers who will be required to work a minimum of 16 hours per month.

The hours and tasks available are flexible to each individual and can be tailored to suit your skills or interests.

Cootamundra LAC, crime prevention officer, Senior Constable, Heidi Hage said the program is a great way to meet new people and NSW Police Force will forward information packs to all interested participants.

“The program is a great way to become involved in your community and make a difference,” Senior Constable Hage said.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, Australian Citizens, and also be willing to undergo the appropriate criminal history checks.
