Electricity price rise hits rural areas

New South Wales households are now paying an average of 20.8 per cent more for their electricity, which means an average annual increase household electricity bill of around $296, according to an independent energy price comparison service, Switchwise.com.au.

According to Switchwise electricity price rises will range from 20.2 to 21.8 per cent, equivalent to a hike in annual bills of $266 to $321 depending upon where you live in NSW, customers in Country Energy’s network area, which covers regional and rural areas of NSW, will see the greatest dollar increases in their electricity bills by $305 to $321 per year.

Regional NSW households will now pay the highest prices in Australia for their electricity. They will pay up to 28.8 per cent more for their electricity each year compared with households in other parts of NSW.
