Staff from Riverina Institute have been recognised and their hard work at a recent award ceremony.
LYNETTE Kammermann – Teacher, Administration Services, Cootamundra and Young Campuses
Lyn’s strong support and encouragement of all customers, and her ability to develop creative solutions that maximise the learning opportunities for students in rural and remote settings have been outstanding.
She has developed innovative techniques to be systematic and productive in her management of distance and flexible students. She set up electronic spreadsheets for capturing data, which enable the Department to access and pinpoint detail at any time. She provides prompt and exceptional attention to detail and great customer service for each individual student.
Lyn is very resourceful. She has researched course materials enabling Young Campus to expand the range of courses on offer through distance delivery. She’s also very team oriented and has a great focus on sharing resources and information with her colleagues.
As a result of her efforts, students across NSW have successfully completed Certificate 3 and 4 courses over the past five years through Young Campus, and many of her students have followed a pathway into Diploma level courses.
Her involvement in distance courses as well as Administration Traineeships has enhanced the reputation of the Institute through increased industry awareness of the quality and flexibility of TAFE NSW delivery.
Kim Shoard, Team Leader Administration, Cootamundra and Young Campuses
We recognise Kim for her exceptional customer service, drive and enthusiastic support of students and staff, and her ability to develop and nurture a real team environment at Young campus.
Kim has a strong focus on providing administration excellence and has implemented many simple yet effective systems to streamline customer contact and minimise administrative errors which might otherwise affect the service received.
Kim is really attuned to customer needs and goes the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. She uses the information gathered by our administration staff to inform Campus management of additional course opportunities. Kim ensures that commercial clients receive a complete wrap-around service, from the first enquiry, through to professional and prompt training and billing – each process is efficient, relevant and timely.
Kim is very supportive of her staff and those around her and ensures that issues are resolved quickly and usually above expectations.
Kim has taken on leadership of the student association at Young Campus and continually tries to identify options to ensure our students have access to campus facilities to complete their campus experience.
Glenn Payne – Teacher of Electrotechnology, Cootamundra and Young Campuses
We recognise Glenn for his outstanding commitment to reforming Electrotechnology training at Young, and transforming it into a highly successful operation, benefiting students and the Industry alike.
Over the past few years, Glenn has invested a huge amount of time and resources into the Electrotechnology Department, enabling Young Campus to realise a full program including three stages of trade as well as TVET classes and a range of commercial activities.
He has worked consistently to implement changes to the Electrotechnology Training Package, ensuring Young Campus is at the forefront of training, and he uses an extensive range of tools and current technologies as part of his training delivery. Of particular significance is the amount of work Glenn has put into creating a new range of workbooks to support student learning. He’s created numerous aids to assist in both the delivery and management of classes and was also instrumental in introducing the delivery of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration to the Institute.
A number of Glenn’s students have won awards. The most recent example is Steve Warton who won the 2009 Riverina School Based Apprentice of the Year. Glenn spent a great deal of time establishing and managing Steve’s program and the results speak volumes.
Glenn’s drive and passion have lead to such growth in the Electrotechnology Department that it now requires a number of part time staff to cope with demand. This growth is largely due to Glenn’s commitment and readiness to liaise and work with industry.
