IT has been five years since the Causer siblings were together as one and with 10 children it is easy to understand how it took so long for it to happen.
The eldest is 91 and the youngest is 70 and together total 806 years and are all still living.
Florence arrived in Quandialla in a horse and cart from Ariah Park to settle on a property ‘Euroka’ in 1914 at only 18.
At the time Quandialla didn’t even exist, ti was known as ‘people of the Weddin Shire and when the railway came through the railway station it was first called Euroka Siding then became Bland Siding and eventually became the Quandialla station in 1914.
A school was soon built on the land donated by Florence’s father , Mr Talbot who was but prior to this the children had governess.
Bill Causer and Florence Talbot were married on the Euroka homestead in 1916 and had their first baby in June 1918.
After their third child, Rhonda was born the family moved into a house in Quandialla and leased the property.
All 10 children went to school in Quandialla but before going to school they had already milked cows, calves poddied and milk separated for cream for their mother to make butter.
Florence made the journey into Grenfell by horse and sulky to deliver three of her children. Baby number four Darcy was the first baby born in the Quandialla hospital in 1926, the same place the next six children were born.
In those days you had to be self sufficient and grow your own fruit and vegetables, make clothes and work the farm, everyone was kept busy.
The Causer family reunion was held at the Quandialla Bowling Club on September 5 and it is a truly remarkable story to have all 10 children be together once again.
