Arthritis NSW Young branch have just completed their enrolment day for another term of Tai Chi and amongst the large number of regulars there were even some beginners signing up.
Tai Chi is a form of slow meditative physical exercise designed for relaxation, balance and health and volunteer exercise leader, Bev Walker said participants are able to gain so many benefits of it.
“It is good for balance, flexibility, respiratory and relaxing the mind while getting fit,” Mrs Walker said.
“It can also help improve your memory, keep the brain moving and destress the body.
“It is also a very social environment and the ladies even have coffee mornings,” she said.
As an arthritis sufferer herself, Mrs Walker understands firsthand the pain the participants can experience.
“I know where they have been and where they have come,” Mrs Walker said.
“It is also extremely beneficial for diabetic sufferers,” she said.
Greater Southern Area Health Service also hold classes for beginners, which can help establish a starting point for anyone wishing to be involved and feel the benefits Tai Chi can offer.
