AFTER a successful Girls Fun Night In, Curves presented a cheque worth $449 to CanAssist to help them continue providing financial support to those affected by cancer within our local region.
The night was partly organised by Curves member, Kylie Greaves to raise funds for CanAssist, which gives entirely to the local community.
Guest speaker on the night was Nikki Carson who is a breast care nurse for the McGrath Foundation (an organisation set up by cricketing legend Glenn McGrath and his wife Jane to help fund breast care nurses for men and women around Australia who are diagnosed with breast cancer).
Nikki is the breast care nurse for this region and she gave an outline of her role with the treatment of breast cancer patients, the symptoms to be aware of, the options available for treatment and the post-operative breast and self care.
Sarah Granger provided an entertaining make-up workshop, which was appreciated by all, as well as the dancing lessons given by Amanda.
The offer of free membership to Curves through a donation to CanAssist was taken up by 19 people.
The support given by Sheehan’s Sunnyside Bakery, Talking Heads, Sarah Granger, Donges Supa IGA and especially to Curves and Kylie who greatly gave their time and support to the organisation.
