CATHOLIC Community Services held their Mad Hatter’s Lawn Bowls Tournament on Wednesday, November 11 in support of Mental Health Week (MHW) 2009.
The theme for MHW this year was “Sign up, Link in, Get involved”; encouraging people to become more actively involved with their local Community.
Coordinator of community services, Kristy Daley was thrilled with the turn out.
“It was an extremely hot day but that did not deter anyone from coming out and trying something new,” said Ms Daley.
The majority of the participants had never played lawn bowls before but with the help from some volunteers from the Young Bowling Club, the morning was a huge success.
“Cliff Traynor and his volunteer members were fantastic with their support, guidance and most importantly their patience,” said Ms Daley.
Trophies and prizes were awarded, with Best Hat awards going to Helen Bryant, Kerry Lenard, Charmaine Jefferys and Marian Fields.
“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the morning and we have had numerous requests for another Lawn Bowls Fun Day next year,” said Ms Daley.
