DOUG Benson is a very special man.
He donates his time and money to transport children and adults with non-life threatening illnesses across the state to specialised medical care. His work is part of the Angel Flight charity.
Doug has just notched up his 50th Angel Flight this year and said it is something not many pilots have achieved.
“I don’t know if it has been done before – most pilots only get a couple of jobs a year”. The organisation has 2300 pilots Australia wide.
Angel Flight co-ordinates non-emergency flights to help country people trying to deal with the triple troubles of bad health, poor finances and daunting distance. All flights are free for the passenger and may involve patients travelling to medical facilities anywhere in the country.
