IT seems to have been a good year for projects in Young, with the Cherry Blossom Bridge, pool and shade sails over the Clarke Street car park completed and the Young Shire Council expecting work on the upgrade of Anderson Park to be finished in a week’s time.
Council general manager, Peter Vlatko said the shade sails and improvements to Anderson Park had cost ratepayers nothing, both were funded under the Federal Government’s Nation Building Project Economic Stimulus Package.
“We’re nearly done in Anderson Park,” said Mr Vlatko.
“People are already using the facilities there.
“We are waiting for the materials to put the roof on the pergola and install the barbecues.
“We have a parking system in place which provides both extended parking and short term parking places, to make certain tourists can find somewhere to leave their cars,” Mr Vlatko said.
The upgrade of Anderson Park has cost $105,000 and a further $98,000 was spent on the Clarke Street car park.
“People are starting to find the Clarke Street car park and I would certainly encourage people to take advantage of those areas,” Mr Vlatko said.
