ABOUT 8.40am on Wednesday morning a 17-year-old female P-plate driver was driving along Telegraph Road, Young when she lost control on a right hand bend and collided with a tree. The female was conveyed to Young Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and police issued the driver with a traffic infringement notice for negligent driving.

About 1.30am on Wednesday morning an unknown offender threw a brick at a garbage bin in Fontenoy Street, Young causing damage to the garbage bin. A vehicle was heard driving away from the scene but no description can be given.

On Wednesday at 9.05am police stopped a 59-year-old male in relation to their Operation Raid project in Willawong Street. A licence check revealed the male had previously had his licence cancelled. He was issued a field court notice and will appear in Young Local Court on January 5, 2010, for driving without a licence.

About 6pm on Monday, November 23 and 7.30am on Tuesday, November 24 an unknown offender broke into the Cafeteria of Young High School, pushing over the fridge and throwing the contents of the venue around the room. Police are seeking information from the public and are urging anyone with information to contact them on 6382 8199 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.

About 3.20pm on November 23 police arrested a 20-year-old male after he was seen entering an unlocked car near the Young Hotel. Police allege the man was searching for something to steal. He was arrested and remains in custody after being bail refused. The man has been charged with breach of bail conditions and entering the car without consent. He will face Wagga Local Court on December 1.

Police in Young have been dealing with a number of vandalism attacks recently. In the same period of time between 5.30pm on November 23 and 9am on November 24 local business including Young Tyrepower, Terry Bros Furniture, Whitewood Warehouse, NRG Fitness Centre, Turners Furniture One, Tegra Australia, and the Lambing Flat Laundry premises in Currawong Street. A number of windows were smashed at a the premises. Tegra Australia was broken into and had a small amount of cash and a laptop stolen from the premises.

Police are making enquiries into the offences and ask if anyone witnessed anything suspicious around these premises or has information in relation to who may be responsible for these offences to contact Young Police on 6382 8199 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.

On November 21 at about 3.15pm a phone was stolen from the local swimming pool. Police are warning residents that at such a busy time of the year for Young to secure all valuables and do not leave valuables in unsecured places.
