YOUNG branch of Biker’s Australia held their annual toy run on Saturday. Vice chairman of the Young club, Ted Martin, said biker numbers were down this year for several reasons which included a falling membership within the club itself due to work transfers and personal commitments by some members on the day.
Rider’s numbers may have been reduced this year but the kindness they encountered was not.
“It was a very good response from the community,” Mr Martin said.
“We collected probably between $400 and $500 worth of toys this year, that’s up on last year, it’s a great thing and people gave generously.”
The Young branch of the club has only been established for 3 years and has only 29 members but they are always supporting local bodies that may need help fundraising including the Wombat school, Wombat Rural Fire Service, Wombat Progress Committee, the Women’s Crisis Centre, Mercy Care, Relay For Life.
“And this week it’s the toy run,” said Mr Martin.
“We’re the good guys and we’re always looking for new members for the club.
“It’s a social club, for the enjoyment of people who love bikes and love to get together for a yarn,” Mr Martin said.
