 $10,000 in one!

$10,000 in one!

06 Feb, 2012 08:55 AM
IT’S no accident John Dunk has come on board for the Emergency Services Triple Zero Golf Day as the bronze sponsor for the upcoming March 30 fundraiser by putting up the chance to win $10,000.

To bag the $10,000, it’s really quite simple.

“All you need to do is get a hole in one – and hey, who can’t do that?” committee member and firie Ryan Terry laughed.

While Terry makes sinking that perfect hole in one an easy accomplishment, the trick is there’s a specific hole it has to happen on.

“Participants will be told which hole it is on the day and if they get it, then the cash is all their’s – see simple,” he said.

The four person open ambrose has become an annual event and will this year be in support of two very worthy charities - the Young and District Education Foundation who provide financial assistance to local students pursuing tertiary studies outside Young, and little Willem Corkery, the son of Michelle and Mark, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment for leukaemia in Sydney’s Randwick Hospital.

“We kicked started the event last year after getting together with some of the cops and the ambos and deciding we wanted to do something as a yearly event which supported local charities,” Terry said.

“We always wanted it to be a family needing help and a charity – and last year was a ripper, we had so much fun. Nominations filled up fast, community involvement was fantastic and we raised some great money for the Moore family and the Young Renal Unit,” he said.

“I can’t tell you how much of a blast we had last year – everyone was buzzing about it and we were for months after it.

“We hope this year is bigger and better and when it’s over, we go back to the drawing board for next year,” he said.

“So to welcome John Dunk on board as one of our major sponsors is a huge asset and we are of course extremely grateful he is prepared to help out.”

The committee said nominations for the event are currently open and people of all levels of ability and skills are invited to play.

“You don’t have to be a professional golfer – just be prepared to have fun, make a few good hits and help raise vital money for some really great causes,” Terry said.

Following the event participants and their families are invited to stay for a drink and the presentations at the Young Golf Club.

Organisers are accepting sponsorship from local business houses – whether it’s sponsoring a hole on the course or by offering a prize for the day.

If you can help out with sponsorship or by donating a prize send your details to Nathan or Aaron at nmcevoy@ambu lance.nsw.gov.au or amoloney@ambulance.nsw.gov.au.

It is $50 per person to play.
