THE November Monthly medal event on Saturday, sponsored by Harvey Norman Superstore Young. Greg Murray won A grade with 67 nett, Ron Thompson won B grade on 66 nett and junior Joel Shields won C grade with 66 nett.

The National Engineering sponsored the junior medal and was won by Joel Shields.

The Elite scratch winners were Darryl Jordan in A grade with 77, ‘Pud’ Smithers won B grade and Peter Bolton won C grade.

The Peter Doherty putting winners were Greg Murray, ‘Pud’ Smithers and John Powderly

Ian Reid won the Hotondo nearest the pin on the 7th, Peter Cusack won the McDonald’s nearest the pin on the 17th and also the Eagles nest. The mystery birdie hole was not won.

On Sunday the Ladies Committee sponsored the medley, won by ‘Jacko’ Anderson on 40 points from Dave Williams on 38 points. Balls went down to 33 points and a group of 28 golfers from Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club in Canberra visited, played and enjoyed the course.

The Sunday morning junior comp was sponsored by Mrs Enid Wimble and Richard Mellish Insurance Services. Great to have Mrs Wimble on board as a junior sponsor and we very much appreciate her interest and contribution to the continuing success of our juniors.

The winner last weekend was Jonathon Watson 28 1/2 from Amy Harding 28 1/2, Nick Fitzpatrick had 33 and Mick Ashton had 33 1/2. I believe Amy also played very well in the ladies event on Saturday.

On Tuesday Richard Metcalfe won on 25 from Bob Martin and Laurie Lang both on 21 points. Balls went to 18 points.

On Wednesday Terry Hall was the winner on 44 points from Joan Coddington, John Powderly, Rick Oliver and Ron Flynn all on 39 points. Balls went to 33 points and the rating was 68. Peter Bolton missed winning the card draw.

On Friday Lyn Quay was the winner on 27 points and won by 6 points. Lyn missed scoring a point on the first hole, then she had 4 holes where she scored 4 points on each, the next three holes yielded 3 points each and to score 27 points she had 2 points on one hole.

There are a few changes to the golf program over the next few weeks. Firstly the Simon Hobson and Young Eyes sponsored event will be the event next Saturday and Alan Wilder and Wilders Bakery event, the American foursomes will move to November 29.

The combined Catholic Schools 4 person Ambrose event will be played on Sunday, November 16.

The Veterans week of golf is on from the 17th to the 21st with almost record entries. There may be a chance to play and you can contact Maurice Penson if you would like to enter.

On Saturday and Sunday, November 22nd and 23rd the South-West Par 3 tournament, sponsored by CGU Insurance Services and Richard Mellish Insurances, will be held. The time sheet is now open for that event so get your name in early.

The winners for last week in the business house comp were Try Hards, comprising S. Genge, T. Johnson, M. Johnson, J. Britt and S. Spackman who each won a ball. The best individual scores were returned by G. Palmer, C. Hardcastle and A. Alexander who each won a ball.

After three rounds Locko are leading the comp from WWW on 10, Hackers are on 9, High School and Young Tyrepower are on 8 points then Daz Tan Kitchens and Try Hards are on 7, Young Sharks, Appsolutely Earthmoving and Hit and Giggle are on 4, with Humphries Heroes on 3.

The ‘free tuition’ program has been extended, so is on this Friday the 7th and next Monday the 10th.

Last Sunday a good number of beginners came and had a hit on the par 3 course.

For November, on each Sunday, everyone is welcome to come and play the par 3, first nine hole layout for $5 including a complimentary drink.

Temora are hosting the first round of the Scott Fuller team’s event next Sunday. Phil has the timesheet and hopefully we will have a good number of players representing the club. I should think the Temora course will be playing ‘preferred lies’ so that will make the playing conditions more enjoyable.
