THE Under 16’s Sullivan Cup side made a gallant second half comeback against a very strong Southcity outfit on Sunday.
Down 22-6 at half time after yet another slow start, they were about to claw their way back to 20 points to 22.
Young were on a roll with some great scrambling defence by Jason Arimson, Brad Boyd and Jake Dawe and charging runs from Jake Levett, Josh McMannus and James Cant.
A weight of possession to Southcity saw them secure two late tries and run out victors 30-20.
Young’s coach, Jake Nowlan, said this could be the turning point to our season, the second half performance was the best he had from this side this year.
Young was best served by birthday boy Thomas Woolford, Ross Hewitt and Jirrah Rausu.
Young currently sit sixth on the Sullivan Cup ladder and need to perform well in the next few weeks to consolidate their position with the top six making the semi finals.
Under 16’s ladder: Tumut 16, Temora 15, Southcity 14, Junee 13, Brothers 8, Young 8, Gundagai 8, Lavington 8, Kangaroos 4, Tumbarumba 2.
