He has congratulated the Year 12 students on the outcomes during a morning tea on Wednesday.
The success has also been applauded by the teacher fraternity with assistant principal curriculum Kathy Holding attributing it to the dedication and talents of the school’s students and staff.
She said General Mathematics had again performed very well with seven students gaining a Band 6.
“The performance of students in Extension 1 and 2 Mathematics to get E4s (notional Band 6s) is an outstanding achievement and ranks our students with the best in the State,” she said.
The science facility performed well with Chemistry, Biology and Senior Science achieving above state averages.
Dr Webster said 78 per cent of Hennessy’s Year 12 cohort had been offered university places while many had won apprenticeships, traineeships and work in the local region.
Acting assistant principal administration/welfare Nicole Morton said she was particularly impressed with the humanities with Standard English, Legal Studies, Ancient History, Modern History, Studies of Religion 2 and Extension History all performing significantly above state averages.
Meanwhile Young High School is excited with the results achieved by their students in the 2012 HSC.
School principal Andrew Turvey said that again their students had ranked amongst the top in the state achieving Band 6 results in a number of subject areas.
“Ninety-five per cent of our students will be progressing on to their chosen destinations in 2013, whether this be University, Technical and Further Education or employment,” he said.
“We are excited with the upturn in the local economy that has provided employment for a number of students who a month ago were concerned about what they would be doing in 2013,” Mr Turvey said.
He said most of Young High School’s students seeking university placement in 2013 achieved early entry so the pressure was off them for the HSC exams.
“Those students still awaiting placement are looking promising with solid results achieved,” he said.
“They will be awaiting the release of university offers in the next few weeks,” Mr Turvey said.
