Lloyd was born and grew up in Young. He was educated at Young Primary School (1953-1960) and Young High School (1961-1965).
Lloyd was an all-round athlete representing the High School in swimming, athletics, cricket, tennis and rugby league.
In 1963 at the NSW State Combined High Schools Athletic Championships he won the 15 years 220 yards and 440 yards, coming third in the 100 yards. In 1964 he won all three 16 years races setting a state record in the 440 yards. He was awarded a NSW State CHS Blue for Athletics.
In 1965 Lloyd was school sports captain, Dux of the School and co-winner of the J. M. Bellerby Cup.
In the Leaving Certificate he finished 212th in NSW out of a field of more than 25,000 candidates.
He studied Medicine at Sydney University 1966-1971.
Lloyd represented the University at both athletics and hockey eventually playing over 100 first grade games.
In 1975 Lloyd commenced anaesthetic training in the United Kingdom and completed apecialist anaesthetic qualifications at Westmead Hospital in Sydney in 1979.
He was Director of the Intensive Care Unit in Lidcombe Hospital from 1980-1989 and was clinical lecturer in anaesthetics at Sydney University.
He was an Honorary Consultant Anaesthetist to the Sydney Dental Hospital 1980-1997.
He moved to Hornsby Hospital Intensive Care Unit and then in 1991 Lloyd and his family moved to Bowral in the Southern Highlands.
Since then he has been a visiting anaesthetist to the two hospitals in Bowral and also to the Illawarra Area Health Service.
Lloyd is head of the anaesthetic department and has served on numerous hospital committees. He has been a senior clinical lecturer at the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Wollongong since 2008.
Lloyd has been active in coaching and management of junior teams for the Bowral Hockey Club and representative teams for the Southern Highlands Hockey Association.
He has represented the Southern Highlands at State Masters Hockey Championships and, in 2010, represented NSW in the Australian Masters Hockey Championships in Western Australia.

The Australian Defence Forces Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards: Paige Hall for year 10, Emily Watson for Year 11 and Daniel O’Connor for Year 12.

Lodge Young Burrangong Number 20 Scholarship: Jonathon Watson.
