It’s something the club has been pushing for over the past two years and, now, their own fundraising efforts, support from Young Shire Council and hands-on help from volunteers is turning the oval into a dedicated ground for AFL.
Several volunteers have devoted many hours to getting the change rooms to lock-up stage, which happened on Sunday.
“We installed the gates to the change rooms which we can now lock-up,” club president Mark Silk said.
“We still need to build benches inside and the showers – which council plan to cover,” he said.
Through council’s capital works budget for sport facilities, council has put aside funds to go directly towards the plumbing and showers of the change rooms.
“They are also in the process of seeking expressions of interest for tiling the change rooms,” Silk added.
“I think we’ll be all ready for the season – we should go close to being finished,” he said.
