The club has invited the former Parramatta Eels player to be their special guest speaker at a fundraising dinner on Thursday, July 18, from 6pm at the Young Services Club.
The club is also still yet to confirm whether another high profile former Parramatta Eels player and NSW State of Origin rep, Andrew Ryan, will make an appearance on the night.
Their aim is to raise as much money as possible to cover the cost of the recently constructed sheds which include three dressing rooms with amenities for Young and visiting players, and officials.
The clubhouse and toilet block at the oval was also given a new paint job once the works were completed.
“Even after significant assistance from local tradesmen, council and parents, there is still a $30,000 to $40,000 fee which the club is hoping to assist in paying through proceeds from this night,” club member Nick Hall said.
“It will be the night after the last Origin, so it will be interesting to get Nathan Hindmarsh’s thoughts on the series as well as his career,” he added.
The club hopes local Country Rugby League development officer and captain-coach of the Young Cherrypickers first grade side Luke Branighan will have the opportunity to give Hindmarsh a tour of local primary schools while he’s in town.
The NRL All Stars player will not be the only entertainment on the night - the club has also teed up a magician, Matt Hollywood, live music, auction items and a treasure chest to be won.
People over the age of 18 are welcome to join in on the fun and help the club raise some money.
The night will include a two course meal and an open bar for all drinks (beer, wine, spirits).
Cost is $120 per head.
“Tables of 10 are selling quickly and if there are singles or odd numbers, they can be placed on tables by arrangement,” Hall said.
“We want to make sure it’s a cracker of a night and we feel there will be significant value for money with the entertainment,” he said.
Young Junior Rugby League Club president Robert Bush said he is very pleased with the support of One Community, who are part of the NRL and who have helped bring Hindmarsh and possibly Ryan to Young.
Anyone interested in attending the night can contact president Robert Bush on 0427 230 655 or Nick Hall on 0429 863 005.
