As a wet and cold front battered Young this week, into the town swept a welcome warm front straight out of Queensland in the form of Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale.

The charismatic Mr Pisasale spent 24 hours in the town talking with community and civic leaders at various functions.
The last time Young mayor Stuart Freudenstein heard Mr Pisasale talk in public, he was so inspired it compelled him and Young Shire Council to invite him to Young.
Council hosted a breakfast meeting yesterday morning for Young business houses to meet and listen to Mr Pisasale, who delivered a presentation on economic development in Ipswich.
His speech focused on good leadership and young people.
He said by developing jobs, education, communities and lifestyle, “it will bring our children home”.
“Be Young by name, young by nature, not Young by name, old by nature,” Mr Pisasale said in his speech.
“If you’re heading in different directions, we’re not going to get anywhere. We need to work together … what you’ve got here is second to none and you’re not using it to its full capacity,” he said.
More than 70 people - consisting of real estate agents, tradespeople, car dealers, small business owners and health professionals – gathered for the breakfast.
Many of whom personally approached Mr Pisasale to thank and tell him how inspired they were.
“I just have to say how much you’ve inspired me,” owner of The Wool Room Kate Sevier said to him walking down the street.
So too did another woman, a parent and business owner, who, unprompted, felt the need stand up and thank Mr Pisasale on behalf of all those present at the breakfast at the end of the presentation.
Boorowa Street was abuzz with positive talk about the breakfast. Dean Kinlyside said it was an impressive presentation.
And - it seems - we also made an impression, with Mr Pisasale promising he would be back.
So filled with enthusiasm about our town, he’s returning to Ipswich with ambitions of being our ambassador.
And there is a promise that he will hold a “Young Day” or “Young Week’ to promote the town.
