The Young Yabbies Management Committee last night voted to remain in the Southern Inland Rugby Union (SIRU) after a three-hour long meeting to explore the club’s competition options.

After vigorous arguments put forward by proponents for staying in SIRU as well as for a move into the Monaro competition, the votes went in favour of the status quo 8-6.
The question of changing competitions came after a poor 2013 season, but arguments were put that with a renewed focus the SIRU would be best for the Yabbies to prosper.
In other matters, former Yabbies first grade coach Luke Eldridge was officially appointed director of coaching in the club, with positions of coaches and managers for first and second grade declared open.
Ben Reid, president, said Luke would provide a more strategic overview to the coaching and provide advice to new coaches and managers in the new season.
“It’s great that we will still have Luke’s experience and knowledge to help guide the club into the new season, and I am sure his passion and desire to see the club succeed will be infectious,” Reid said.
