Sami vies for two awards at Tamworth

This year’s Tamworth Country Music Festival may just be the most memorable for Young’s Sami Cooke, who is in the running for two major music awards.

Sami is among the local contingent of country singers attending this year’s festival which kicks off today and runs for 10 days.

The festival is Sami’s first major music event for 2014 and what better way to start it off than with a nomination in the Independent Country Music Association (ICMA) Awards for best female artist and a nomination in the People’s Choice Awards for most promising future star.

Sami has also been invited to sing at the People’s Choice Awards, an honour she most certainly will take in her stride.

“It’s the first time Sami’s been nominated for awards at Tamworth,” mum Janelle Cooke said.

“Her fans put her in for these.”

Stay tuned about the happenings of the festival as Sami plans to share her experience with The Witness on her return home.
