Following a below par performance by an understrength team against Cowra a fortnight ago, the Young team will head to Cowra this Sunday in a game that has everything on the line.
After being bowled out by Cowra for 49, two weeks ago the Young team will be aware that they will have to work a lot harder with the bat to form partnerships and score a lot more runs to give their bowlers a total to defend.
This weekend will see the return of Allen, Croese, McKnight, Palmer and Eldridge in a much stronger line-up that is sure to push the Cowra team to the limit.
The team will be very keen to reverse last round’s result as the local team will do everything in its power to retain the Grinsted Cup and progress to the final of the Lachlan Valley Cricket Association.
If Allen, Cosgrove, McKnight and Palmer can put runs on the board and give Platt, Whitechurch and McIllhatton a target to defend, Young will be sure to take their chances in the field and put Cowra away.
This will prove to all involved that the result a fortnight ago was just “one of those weeks” that cricketers occasionally have.
Responsibility will be on the shoulders of the senior players in the squad to ensure the rest of the team to perform on the day and get the right result.
The team for Sunday’s game against Cowra in Cowra is:
Ben Allen (c), Brendan Croese, Luke Cosgrove, Jake McIllhatton, Matt McKnight, Geoff Palmer, Josh Platt, Brendan Whitechurch, Scott Druett, Kyle McGovern, Luke Eldridge, Duncan Cameron (12th man), Nathanial Coles (13th man).
