Oliver, Grounds and O’Brien grade winners

Saturday saw the Monthly Medal event for May decided with continued sponsorship by Harvey Norman Young Superstore.

The three medal winners also won the respective Elite Scratch events.

In A grade Rick Oliver, playing off scratch, won the medal with a nett 68 and a scratch score of 68 (2 under par).

In B grade Greg Grounds really fired up with 77 off the stick and a medal winning score of 60 nett. As a matter of interest, Greg also won the putting in B grade with 23 putts.

Good effort Greg.

In C grade Darren O’Brien also won the medal/scratch double with 69 nett/90 scratch.

John Hobson Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning sponsors the putting and Bill Oliver won A grade with 25 putts while Peter Greaves won C grade with 29 putts.

The McDonalds NTP winners were Chris Slater (7th) and Ian Wells (17th).

The Terry Bros secret birdie winner was Ian Wells on the second hole.

The Richard Mellish Insurance Services card draw was not won and the ball competition went to 72 nett.

On Sunday the 4Ball was sponsored by Brian Norman and Peter Greaves.

The event was won by Daniel Patterson and Nick Apps with 46 points.

In second place was Matt Williams and Bob Stone. Third was Ben Holmes and Chris Holmes on 44 points.

These three pairs have qualified to play in the regional final on July 15 at Temora.

The next three pairs here on Sunday are reserves for Temora, Col Miller and Scott Druett, Ron Thompson and Steve May, also Alan Wilder with Dave Taylor.

The Sunday junior competition sponsored by Harvey Norman Superstore, Young, was won by Thomas Sanderson with 30 nett on a countback from Lachlan Mitchell, Swayde Honeman was third on 32.5 and Tyler Nicholson had 36. Balls to 41 nett.

On Tuesday we had the Veterans Tournament and the Division 1 winner was Maurice Penson on 39 points from Brian Scotland (the Grange G C) 37 points.

Division 2 winner was Jim Milton on 39 points from Bob Martin on 37 points.

The ladies event was won by Lynne Page on 38 points, from Maxine McCormack on 37 and Lorraine Regan had 34 points in third place.

Nearest the pin winners were Brian Page, Mick McNally (The Grange G C) and Helen Spencer.

On Wednesday the weather was not the best but the winning scores were very good.

Steve Sell had 67 off the stick for 43 points, Joel Shields had 68 off the stick for 40 points and Alan Wilder had a par round 70 for 39 points.

Balls to 33 points and the jackpot card draw was not won.

On Friday Col Miller was the winner on 25 points from Chris Keevil on 22 points and Bob Martin was next on 21 points. Balls to 18 points.

Next Saturday the finals of the match play will be played and this event is sponsored by Steve Sell and Nigel Oxford.

In A grade Steve Sell pays Geoff Walker, Ian Wells plays Mark Fletcher in B grade and Garry McGrath will play Simon Murray in C grade.
