White Trash and The Ernies started the ball rolling with an 8-1 win over the Ernies (N Cosgrove 3, R Moon, P Lister, B Humphries, S Tierney, V Ward / D Zuzek).
With experience winning over the relatively young and new Ernie’s, Dominic Zuzek scored for his team again this week showing us that he will definitely be a threat in the winter competition this year!
Mixed Bag and Thunder were next in line with a win for the young ones with a 4-0 score (P Gruber, J Anderson, H Saines, C Gruber).
Hailey Saines once again left her comfy position in the backs to score another goal for her team. Paul and daughter Chloe Gruber kept it in the family with their goals and Joe Anderson showed us he hasn’t lost too much of his fitness in the off season.
Mixed Bag also played a hard game, with the score not really reflecting how close the teams were.
Anna Barker and Christopher McIntosh both had a great game for Mixed Bag.
The Gators and DTS 2 rounded up the early time slot with a 4-1 win to the Gators (K McGovern, J Rudd, Z Sell, A Rudd / C Foster).
The Rudd boys teamed up with a very fast Kyle McGovern certainly keeping the DTS team on their toes with speed being the ultimate winner most of the time.
Emily Bridge played an excellent game for DTS.
Courtney Foster scored yet another goal for her team this week, certainly honing in her aiming abilities for the winter competition!
Zac Sell also played a great game for The Gators - as did Steele Rudd, taking one on the chin for the team. Hope the bruise isn’t too big Steele!
White Trash backed up again for a double header against The Storm only just coming out on top with a 3-2 win (S Tierney, P Lister, B Humphries/A Dwyer, H Zuzek).
Experience and skill certainly showing through for White Trash but youth does have its advantages with Archie Dwyer and Harry Zuzek scoring again for their team this week.
What a great duo coming into our competition, with future forwards written all over them!
e-LEMON-ators started their day with a win against the Koalas once again with the score not reflecting how hard the teams were working (L Wilkinson, B McKnight, B Kenny, R Hosken).
Very sweet to see the Lemons with their little yellow ribbons in their hair.
Nice one girls!
Loren Wilkinson scored again for her team this week, proving that a broken nail can’t keep her down.
Brodie and Brady both provided skills and expertise in the middle for the Lemons with a visit from Rowan Hosken this week to score as well.
Koalas were not to be outdone in the skills arena with Nicole Holihan and Jenny McKay both providing some hard yards for their team and Fred Dimmick and Di Lonnen being strong and faithful in the backs as always.
Black Sally’s and DTS 2 played against each other, with DTS backing up for their second game for the day.
Youth and speed were the winning combination for the Black Sally’s with an 8-0 win over the DTS 2 (M McAlister, J Pope, J Callaghan, D Bright, B Pope 2, M Asberg, C Wood).
It certainly felt like they were running rings around us with their height being a very handy factor.
Long arms also had a turn in there as well!
Bailey Pope had a great game for the Sally’s scoring twice for her team this week, trying to keep up with brother Jarrod who also scored this week.
Fiona Douglas and Michael Adams both played well for DTS 2.
The Thunder and The Gators had a friendly game with the goals being scored mostly by the kids.
The Gators came out on top with a 6-2 win over The Thunder (Steele Rudd, A Rudd 2, J Emmett, D Emmett, Z Sell / Chloe Gruber).
Chloe Gruber had a great game for The Thunder adding another two goals to her tally for the day taking it to three.
Well done Chloe!
Zac Sell’s hard work certainly paid off this time with a goal to him as well. Well done on your double Zac!
DTS 1 and Hornets had a fun game with plenty of laughing on both sides.
Hornets winning the day with a 2-1 win over DTS 1 (P Shepherd, E Dodd / C Foster).
Courtney Foster outstanding again in this game scoring yet another goal for the day. Well done Courtney, all that running paying off!
With Michael Skillen playing mostly on the ground, Zac Williams and Elliott Dodd found it hard to get past him, but Elliott finally succeeding to score his goal.
Peter Shepherd scored his goal from a short corner.
Newcomers to the game -Justin Garlick and Mikaela - Leonow also worked hard for their teams on the day.
Both teams certainly needed a hard hat when a certain back tried an overhead for the first time in her life.
All I can say is that at least it made it off the ground, and she did not get a yellow card for dangerous play!
However towards the end it was a battle of the tireds with Dave Webster and Peita Payne just trying to get that ball slightly past each other in the last few minutes of the game.
Neither of them actually made much ground but both were very happy to hear the final hooter for the day!
The Ernie’s and Mixed Bag had a fun game with Mixed Bag only just winning the game with a 1-0 score.
Vince Tavernese fought hard for his team against a seemingly faultless back line for The Ernie’s, however eventually scored the only goal for the match in spectacular fashion.
Cheers for the goal were heard on the other fields, they were excited!
Nick Dwyer and Theresa Campbell played it hard for The Ernie’s with Matt Zuzek and Beau Bruce being unable to convert goals in this match.
Lots of hard teamwork was put in by both sides and it was a great game to umpire.
Thank you Tracey!
