It bears the numberplate RCROWE, resplendent in Sydney Rabbitohs livery, leading many onlookers to assume it was the Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe himself behind the wheel.

However, PS's mole spotted the car this week bearing a disabled parking permit sticker on the windscreen. PS checked with Crowe himself to make sure he had not slipped into Sydney undetected midway through his global promotional activities for his biblical epic Noah.

Crowe revealed, via Twitter, that ''no mate. There is some knobby with rcrowe plates who likes to pretend he's me. It is an odd world''.

So if Mr - or Ms - Knobby would like to reveal him or herself to PS, this column would be very interested in hearing from them.
