The $100,000 Slingsby Holdings Bathurst Gold Tiara Final (Group 1) resulted in a win for the Four Starzz Shark two-year-old filly Makes Every Scents trained by popular Grenfell reinsman Mark Hewitt for her owner Jackie Gibson.
Being from the good producing Holmes Hanover mare Scent, the winner now is undefeated in three starts.
Scent had won 16 races in a best time of 1:57.9 and been placed on 19 occasions before being sent to the breeding barn.
Young owner, trainer, driver Glenn Wilmot finished a good second behind the winner after being well placed throughout with his Jeremes Jet filly Mustang Jet who is out of the Orange Sovereign (who stood at Mimosa Stud) mare Courtney Louise, herself a winner both in NSW and Queensland.
Third horse in the race, Sally Fletcher, was bred by Dallas Harvey together with Ken and Sue Smith from Mimosa Stud at Tubbul and is by American Ideal from the Artscape mare I’m Off Limits and is now owned by a group of happy owners who have elected to place the filly in the care of leading Sydney trainer Paul Fitzpatrick.
Other local trainers to contest races throughout the Gold Crown Carnival acquitted themselves well including recent Goulburn winner, Thanku Thanku, who finished second in his heat before being unplaced in the consolation after coming from an awkward draw and racing fiercely
The Michael Day Jr.-trained Jokers To The Right had no luck to finish behind the placegetters in his consolation three-year-old event.
The Young Harness Racing Club will conduct their next meeting on Friday week, April 11 at the Young Paceway.
The afternoon meting has attracted a great deal of interest from trainers and indications are that nominations will again be of the highest standard.
