With more than half of all Australians over 60 suffering from some form of hearing loss, the opening of a new visiting site at Young by Australian Hearing is set to provide the local area with improved access to hearing health services.

Lyn Picciolo, manager of Australian Hearing Wagga, said with hearing loss becoming a more prevalent health issue, particularly among seniors, it was important to provide the local community with increased access.
“The new visiting site is convenient and offers the community access to a full range of hearing services,” Ms Picciolo said.
“This plan has been two years in its implementation, and the Australian Hearing team is really excited about providing the best in hearing services from our new location at the Centrelink Office in Young, opening Tuesday, May 13.”
Clinicians from Australian Hearing Wagga Wagga will provide services two days every calendar month, offering services including hearing assessments, hearing device fittings and rehabilitation services.
“Maintaining good hearing is important for living a healthy and happy life, and we hope the opening of the new site encourages locals to take advantage of the services that may be available to them,” Ms Picciolo said.
“If anyone in the area is concerned about their own hearing, or that of a loved one’s, we’ve made it much easier to take the first step to better hearing.
“We are also working with local businesses to offer free hearing screening days on a more regular basis to help members of the community make hearing health checks part of their routines,” she said.
Australian Hearing provides subsidised hearing care for eligible people, including pensioners and veterans.
