Former federal minister Bruce Baird will cease lobbying the NSW government as head of a tourism and transport industry group following his son Mike's appointment as Premier.

Mr Baird snr is chairman of the Tourism and Transport Forum, which represents 200 corporations.
Its advisory board includes executives from Sydney Airport Corporation, hotel group Accor Pacific, Virgin Australia, Qantas, developer Toga Group and cruise ship operator Carnival Australia.
While he said it had been ''rare'' for him to lobby the government during the three years his son was NSW treasurer - he could only recall two occasions - he said he would cease doing so from now on.
''I've decided I won't be involved in anything in NSW in terms of going to see ministers,'' he said on Monday. ''That's not to say I won't be hosting the odd luncheon. But I won't be involved in any lobbying in relation to the NSW government.''
Mr Baird snr said that, prior to his son becoming Premier, he had told his TTF colleagues he would not seek to renew his contract when it came up in December.
Mr Baird jnr - who became Premier when his predecessor Barry O'Farrell resigned after giving false evidence to the Independent Commission Against Corruption - indicated one of his priorities was to change the way lobbyists were managed in NSW.
Last week Mr O'Farrell told ICAC he did not received a $3000 bottle of Grange Hermitage from businessman and Liberal fund-raiser Nick Di Girolamo, who had been lobbying him over a potentially lucrative contract for his company Australian Water Holdings.
But the next day ICAC was shown a handwritten note from Mr O'Farrell to Mr Di Girolamo thanking him for the gift.
Only specialist firms lobbying the NSW government on behalf of clients - so called third-party lobbyists - need to register with the Department of Premier and Cabinet and abide by a code of conduct.
Company executives such as Mr Di Girolamo, in-house lawyers and industry associations such as TTF are not captured by this system.
The Premier was being urged to implement the recommendations of a 2010 ICAC report that would force all companies seeking to lobby ministers to register as lobbyists. ICAC also said details of meetings between lobbyists and ministers should be made public.
