Swan Districts may have finally ended West Perth's chances of defending its title.

The Falcons 29-point loss to the Swans  leaves the 2013 WAFL champion three wins outside of the top four with seven games to play.

And over the next four weeks, West Perth meet the four sides above them on the ladder - Subiaco, East Perth, Swan Districts (again) and East Fremantle (in that order).

Making the Falcons job harder for them is that the Sharks keep winning, having pushed their winning streak to six games on the weekend.

For the second-placed Swans, the win gives them an eight-point break over third-placed Subiaco, although the Lions have played one fewer game.

West Perth led by four points on the weekend, but managed only 4.2 in the second half to the Swans 9.5.

Giving the black and whites 54 inside 50 entries will usually spell trouble.

Tim Geappen (three goals, all in the second half), Ryan Davis (five), Matt Jukes (two) and Ricky Cary (two) were all among the goals again, as they have been most of the season.

The consistency of senior players is also proving vital for the Swans, with Matt Rogers, Justin Simpson and Aaron Elari getting their hands on the ball, as is youngster Adam Faulkner.

It didn't help West Perth that it lost Jack Thrum early in the game.

Aaron Black and Shane Nelson again did their bit, with 35 and 32 possession respectively, while Andrew Strijk was also good in defence.

East Perth v Peel

The Royals backed up its disappointing Foxtel Cup loss on Tuesday night with a 63-point win over the Thunder.

East Perth had 103 more possessions than Peel, 100 more marks and 24 more entries into their forward line. They won't lose too many players with those sort of figures.

West Coast coach Adam Simpson has hinted at playing some of his youngsters in the final AFL rounds of the season. While that may see the likes of Dom Sheed, Brant Colledge (who injured his ankle on the weekend) and Blayne Wilson, it may also mean the return of senior players to the WAFL.

Ten Royals had 20 touches or more, led by Craig Wulff and Steven Payne with 27 apiece. Josh Smith booted four goals. His season tally moves to 19 goals - half of that of Subiaco and WAFL leading goal-kicker Matt Boland.

Sam Menegola played his best game for Peel in a while, with 32 touches, while Tom Sheridan had 28. Good news for the Dockers and Peel was the return to action of Craig Moller and Max Duffy from extended layouts through injury.

Claremont v South Fremantle

Claremont has won consecutive game for the first time this season, backing up a 26-point win over Swan Districts with a run-away 22-point victory over South Fremantle.

The Tigers led by just one point at three-quarter-time.

Has Claremont won enough games for Luke Blackwell to claim a second Sandover Medal?

He's averaging more than 28 touches a game, behind only Nelson of West Perth, Rory O'Brien of East Fremantle and Black (also of the Falcons).

Blackwell was good again on the weekend with 32 possessions, while Jack Bradshaw booted five goals.

It will be interesting to see how the Bulldogs finish off a disappointing season now that Paul Hasleby has announced he won’t be continuing into 2015.

Will players relax and see the season out, with some senior players taking the chance at the end of the year also to call it quits? Or will they gel together and show the incoming coach (whoever that may be) that they are the players who can take them to their next premiership?

Haiden Schloithe continues to show he has an appetite for the contest, while Tim Kelly Steve Verrier and Jacob Martinez were also good against Claremont.

East Fremantle v Perth

East Fremantle had to work for its sixth consecutive win - Perth continuing to remain in games, but unable to finish them out.

The Demons kicked 6.1 in the final term to fall 10 points short of victory.

The Sharks let themselves down in front of goal, kicking 14.18 - 6.9 after half-time.

Rory O'Brien had more than 30 touches for the seventh time this season (third week in a row) and also kicked two goals.

Bradd Dalziell had 35 touches and could be an important player come finals time.

The Demons got to within three points late in the game and an upset loomed.
