Michael originally from Cowra, son of Bill and Christine Murphy, and Monica daughter of Owen and Alison Pippard of Young.
During their four years in Wagga they got to know each other and on their graduation day Michael asked for Monica’s hand in marriage.
The following year the couple moved to Sydney where Michael worked as a radiographer at the world renown St Vincent’s Hospital in Darlinghurst, and Monica commenced her nursing at the Sydney Eye Hospital, Australia’s leading eye hospital.
The couple became active in St Mary’s Cathedral, and decided to get married their on February 22, 2014.
The Celebrant Fr Christopher Heffernan, was a close friend of the couple, having gotten to know them during their time in Wagga. He was joined by a priest at the Cathedral Fr Danai, and Fr Mark Podesta, a canon lawyer.
During the service the guests were treated to the sounds of the oldest choir in Australia; St Mary’s Cathedral Choir under the direction of Thomas Wilson. The music ranged from 1600 years ago, to present day, including two pieces written by the bridegroom and best man respectively especially for the wedding.
After the wedding the couple and bridal party had their photos taken amidst Hyde Park and the Royal Botanical Gardens, then finally aboard a private yacht, chartered to drop them at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron for the reception.
The guests were treated to a live jazz band as they arrived via ferry from Circular Key.
Monica and Michael now live in Ballarat Victoria.
