While Chris Waller looks unlikely to break his record for metropolitan winners in a season, he still managed a double at Rosehill on Saturday. Favourite Multilateral scored before Made To Order ($10) returned in winning fashion over 1350 metres after a disappointing performance in the Keith Nolan Classic in March. “I wanted to bring her [the latter] back early to get some confidence in her and see where it takes us,” Waller said. “She’s well bred and she was always going to be better as a four-year-old, so she’s got a bright future.” Waller thought Made To Order was a group 1 filly last campaign. “I thought she was our oaks horse last preparation and she came off the back of basically a summer preparation and I don’t think she had the time to build into an oaks,” he said. “She’s definitely a mile and 2000-metre horse.”

Reith cradles mare
Jockey Christian Reith was back in the winner's circle for the first time since returning from Hong Kong when nursing Cradle Me to victory at Rosehill on Saturday. After blundering the start, Reith gathered Cradle Me at the rear of the field then weaved a passage before unleashing an irresistible burst to beat Casual Choice by three-quarters of a length. “She had the right run and kicked well in the straight," Reith said.“She was just playing up a little bit in the gates. She was a little bit stirred up today, but a few weeks in the paddock will do her the world of good. It is good to be back and winning here.” Reith will return to take up a riding contract in Hong Kong in September but will keep his eye in in Sydney until then. He hopes to keep his association with Cradle Me, which will be set for black-type events. “She’s always been an honest horse but the blinkers have sharpened her up,” trainer David Pfieffer said of the for the rising six-year-old. “You wouldn’t be surprised to see her take her place in a stakes race.”
Rubick pleases Ryan
Gerald Ryan has discovered how to bring Runway Star's barrier-trial form to the races. The flying Northern Meteor filly led all the way at Rosehill on Saturday to back up a trial where she went 52.7 seconds for 900m. "She has never been able to bring it to race day before," Ryan said. "I think she is a stakes filly and that was a Saturday race, but you couldn't be too confident because of what she has done before." Earlier, boom colt Rubick, which was fourth in the Blue Diamond, made his his first public appearance since in a run-along, in which he rolled through the last 600m in 35.65 seconds. "He is three-quarters of an inch taller and 48 kilograms heavier than in the Blue Diamond. He is just more mature," Ryan said. "He just came home the last 200m and that is what we wanted him to do because he is still a month away from a start." Rubick will open his campaign in the San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill on August 16 before heading to Melbourne for the Danehill Stakes, Schillaci Stakes, with the Coolmore Stakes his group 1 goal.
Moore readies to return
Gary Moore will move into his stable at Rosehill on August 3 but Racing NSW has given him permission to continue his Macau operation in the Asian gambling mecca until the end of its season in September. Moore was interviewed by licensing officials on Thursday and made the approach. "I'm leading the championship over there and going for my eighth title," Moore said. "I just wanted to keep the stable going until the end of the season but didn't know what they would say. [Racing NSW] were all right with it, so that is good. I told them my focus will be spending my time here getting things going, but I have staff that will keep Macau going. My focus is getting my Australian stable off to a winning start quickly."
