The performance, an inspiring and energetic mix of dancers, vocalists, orchestras, bands, choirs and other outstanding young performers from across the region, is held annually at the WIN Entertainment Centre, Wollongong.
Southern Stars executive producer Barney Ellevsen said this year’s show would include over 2800 students and teachers from public schools across southern NSW including students from a number of first-time schools from Sydney, Southern Sydney, Western Sydney, Bourke and Young.
Behind the scenes Southern Stars provides opportunities for teachers and students in stage production, event management and performance skills and composition.
The creative showcase attracts an audience of more than 12,000 every year.
Mr Ellvesen said this year’s theme #webelieve2014 is about a child’s journey through to adulthood – believing in magic and fantasy in the early years, believing in themselves, and through education believing in a better world.
The southern NSW event was officially launched on Thursday, July 17 at the WIN Entertainment Centre ahead of the curtain raiser on August 29 and 30.
Four shows will be held at the WIN Entertainment Centre on Friday, August 29 (10am and 7.30pm) and Saturday, August 30 (2pm and 7.30pm),” he said.
Tickets for Southern Stars #webelieve2014 go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster outlets from Thursday, July 17.
