The carnival was in a round robin format in which all teams got to play four games each, and showcase the skills they have developed during the season to date.

The Young Auskickers did a brilliant job during their four games to go through the day undefeated and enjoyed the tussle with neighbours Cootamundra who are a formable bunch of kids.

The clean competitive footy shown on the day is a credit to all the towns’ Auskick coordinators who have done a wonderful job with their respective squads. 

Young’s Auskick coordinator, Anthony Webb, labelled the carnival a success and thanked the officials, parents and participants for making the journey to Young, and for making the carnival an enjoyable outing for all who attended. 

He also gave a big rap to all the children involved, commending them on the good nature in which they played, and the sportsmanship shown.

The local Auskick clinic runs between 10am and 11am on Saturdays at Burrangong Oval. 

Any interested children aged between five and 12 years old, as well as parents, are encouraged to come along and join the fun.

In other news the Young Saints are looking into the possibility of running a business house AFL Nines competition during October and November as an option for men, women and children to stay physical and fit and having fun, along with gaining a slight insight into our footy code.

The Nines format is played on a modified field with modified rules and has been played for the last couple of seasons.

The Nines concept is both a post and pre-season fixture and could take a hold, especially in such a sporting town as Young.
