Sunshine!

Last weekend a team of junior players travelled to Tumut to compete in the Medibank Junior Development Series Tournament.  

Our juniors enjoyed success on the day.

Congratulations to  Michaela Summerfield (winner of the Under 11 girls),   Rachel Dorman (third place), Mili Felix-Vonarx (winner of Under 13 girls), Kate Officer (runner-up), Juliette Thompson (third place), Monique Dorman (winner of Under 15 girls), Stacey Dorman (runner-up of Under 17 girls) and Annika Cavanagh (third place).

We saw some solid performances from Declan Laybutt, Ruby Glover, Connie Pearse, Ryan Laybutt and Imogen Robinson.   

Congratulations to Imogen, who travelled to Tumut for her first tournament.

Col and I had a chance to catch up with most of the team travelling to New  Zealand in September this year.  

It was a good chance to meet the players and their parents, view their on court play and catch up with their preparation for the upcoming tour.

Night comps are underway at the Young Tennis Centre.  

Even though the weather is cold, the short time slot keeps all players moving and warm.  

Col is still looking for one male player for the 6.15pm time slot in Fast Tennis on a Tuesday night.

Saturday Hot Shots program for juniors is available each Saturday from 9am.

The adult New Zealand Tour is gaining momentum. March 2015 will be our departure.  

Plans are well underway – inter club matches, sight-seeing, shopping, dining.

The Young MJDS will be held on Sunday, August 3.  

Online entries are being taken now and will close on Friday, August 3.

The new junior doubles competition will commence on Thursday afternoons from 4-5pm at the Young Tennis Centre.  

Entries are open now.  

The competition will run for 10 weeks from Thursday, July 31 at a cost of $20 per player for the comp.  

Bring a friend and have some fun.  

A light afternoon tea is provided.
