A 59-year-old Young woman is expected to be charged with one count of possessing a prohibited drug and two counts of cultivating a prohibited drug/plant following the execution of a warrant on a Henry Lawson Way property.
Detectives discovered a secret room in the property’s shed housing a hydroponic setup, containing six large and mature cannabis plants.
Police said the room was the result of a false wall at the rear of an adjoining garage.
In a bathroom in the house, police discovered six small cannabis plants about 10cm high in individual pots under a lamp.
Police also located a total of 323 grams of cannabis leaf in various locations which was packed in re-sealable plastic bags, approx 15 bags in total.
A 32-year-old male who also resides at the location has been charged with possession and will appear in Young Local Court on September 16.
Detective Sergeant Damian Nott said the command would be relentless in its pursuit of drug crime.
“Yesterday’s find is just another step in the ongoing process,” he said on Friday.
“We know drug crime underpins and drives a lot of other crime so less drug activity means less victims of crime generally.”
He said those involved in drug crime in the area should know it was only a matter of time before they were caught.
“Those involved in drug crime will get our attention sooner or later,” he said, “it’s just a case of who’s next?”
Detective Sergeant Nott said the support of the community was essential to their operations.
“Our success a lot of the time relies on people assisting, it’s all about the community coming together,” he said.
“We encourage members of the community to contact us directly or via Crime Stoppers with any information.”
