These camps provide a pathway to the NSW Country Tour Selection Trials in September.
The Country Tour selects 40 athletes for a week of competition against other state teams in Albury, and 90 athletes to play against New Zealand and other invited teams in Port Macquarie.
The aim of the program is to develop individual and team skills required to play basketball at the highest junior level of competition.
The NSW Country Tour Selection Trials will be held in Newcastle during the September school holidays.
This trial is open to all Under 12, 14, 16 and 18s boys and girls.
Attending the CDP Camp is not a requirement to attend these trials.
More information can be found at Basketball NSW website.
All the boys who attended found the camp to be challenging, especially the 7am start to training and the 9pm finish each night.
The boys all trained very well, developing new skills and making new friends.
These camps are not compulsory but enable athletes from towns such as Young to gain an opportunity to develop as basketballers and have the opportunity to work with very experienced coaches.
Pacers Under 16 boys Declan Brebner, Harry Thomson, James (BJ) Doyle and Zac Teachey attended along with Under 14s players Blake Apps and Angus Jones.
All boys acquitted themselves well and all said they enjoyed the experience.
