The Veteran’s Tuesday comp was run and won by Lyn Quay with 14 points.
The fields for Tuesday have been down of late, so please let the Pro Shop know if you would like to play.
A beautiful sunny day on Wednesday allowed a larger field to tackle the mid-week Pro’s Comp.
The outright winner was Peter Delahunty with 41 points from Steve Dewar with 39 points close behind in second place.
Minor places went to Tony Leadbitter on 38 points, Steve May on 37 points and Mark Crutcher on 37 points.
Balls went down to 29 points on a countback, and the ball draw jackpot was won.
John Powderly was the lucky winner, but remember that you must be in the clubhouse when the card draw is held to win the prize.
In the Friday nine hole competition Andrew Miller was the winner with 17 points from Col Miller with 14 points.
The Saturday event was a single par sponsored by Schoies Plumbing and Dean Schofield.
Steve May was the winner of the day with an excellent score of plus four.
Runner-up was Ian Tierney with plus two, and third place went to Allan “Reggie” Moore on plus one - but only after he survived a very close countback with Chris Slater, Brett Scelly and Ryan Terry all on plus one.
Nearest the pin prizes were also sponsored by Schoies Plumbing and went to Ron Thompson on the seventh, Chris Slater on the 13th, Steve Sell on the 16th and Ian Page on the 17th.
Ian Page has certainly been making hay while the sun shines since his comeback and has won a nearest the pin prize or run a place (or both) every week of late.
The Mystery birdie hole was sponsored by Terry Bros Carpet Court and was won by Mark Flanders with a birdie on the 15th hole.
This prize had not been won for some weeks so Mark won a tidy 14 balls for his birdie. The Richard Mellish Insurance Services card draw was not won.
This week’s meat raffle was sponsored by the Caltex Service Station. Next week’s raffle will be sponsored by Patterson Bros Funeral Directors.
Thank you very much to all our sponsors for your support. It is definitely greatly appreciated.
A foggy and chilly morning greeted the Young Social Golf Club on Sunday morning and only eight hardy souls set forth.
Jim Delahunty was the winner with 35 nett from Jacko Anderson with 36 nett. Ashley Guy took out third place on 38 nett on a countback from Kevin Baker.
The NTP was not won and there were no gobbles recorded either. The Bradman’s prize went to Robert Harvey.
Next week will be the Radar Wells Memorial played on the front nine.
Also coming up for all social club members is the Wagga Wagga day trip on Sunday, August 10.
Cost for the trip is $50 for club members and $50 plus green fees for non-members.
Sunday afternoon the club held an 18 hole medley stableford with prizes donated by the Young Townhouse and Alexanders Restaurant.
Rick Oliver won the day with 36 points from Aaryn Murfitt and Steve May both on 35 points.
Balls went down to 34 points.
Next Saturday there will be a stroke for the monthly medal with the major prizes sponsored by Harvey Norman Young Superstore.
NTPs will be sponsored by Watson Toyota, scratch prizes by Elite Carpet Cleaning, and the putting comp by John Hobson Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
Sunday is to be a single stableford with prizes sponsored by Greg Murfitt Smash Repairs.
Club memberships are now overdue, so if anyone still has membership fees owing, please help your club function properly and fix these up immediately.
Remember also that on Sunday, August 10 the club will host the Holden Scramble sponsored by Harden Geelan Holden of Young.
Played as an ambrose event, it is open to any current member of a club with a registered GA handicap.
Teams will consist of four players per team. If we can get a minimum of 48 players or 12 teams, then the winning team will go to Canberra with the chance to progress to the National Final in Queensland.
Until next week, good golfing and I hope you all get a chance to get out and enjoy the beautiful Young Golf Course.
