On Tuesday, July 29 the girls travelled to Paramore Park at Wagga where they contested the semi-final of the shield against Beelbangra Public School.
Young took the victory, 4-2 and progressed onto the grand final for their final chance to get a hold of the highly sought after Mortimer Shield.
The girls came up against Sacred Heart of Wagga in the final, and by half time were holding their ground at 2-all.
Unfortunately Young was defeated 2-4, and despite not taking the winners title, were happily named runners-up of the 2014 Mortimer Shield competition that consisted of about 180 teams from around the state.
To top off the day the girls were introduced to State of Origin winning coach Laurie Daley who signed autographs and had a photo with the side.
