For the first time and to celebrate 100 years of ActewAGL in our community, the image judged to best highlight the region, will be published on the cover of the 2015 Postcards From Your Town calendar and earn its photographer $1000.
Another 12 winning photographers will have their images featured in the calendar and will win a cash prize of $500 each.
ActewAGL Marketing and Corporate Affairs director Paul Walshe said this is the eighth year they have run the competition.
“I’m excited that for the first time we’ll have 13 winners with one talented amateur photographer taking home $1000,” he said.
Last year over 950 entries were received in the competition.
“It’s is a great way to show others the beauty of where you live and promote your region,” Mr Walshe said.
2014 Postcards From Your Town calendar winner Shelley Harper explained the inspiration behind her photo titled, “Dead Tree – Planted Canola on the Road to Boorowa”.
“The scene I took with the canola is something that I pass at least once every year as I drive out to my property. I also love trees in any form, especially dead trees; I think they’re just as beautiful as living ones,” Shelley said.
To all budding photographers now is the time to start snapping and capturing those magical moments that best represent what you love most about your region.
Entries close on Monday, September 1, 2014 and winners will be announced on November 25, 2014.
The calendar will be available at ActewAGL’s Assist store and distributed through sponsored events and organisations throughout the capital region during December.
