The ''family club'' is planning a series of activities to mark the milestone next year, including taking an NRL game back to Belmore Oval.

The hall of fame project is one of the main initiatives being discussed behind the scenes to help current players connect with their predecessors and to embrace the history of the club.

Some of the greatest players in rugby league have worn the blue and white and there will be great debate over which deserve to be formally recognised.

Steve Mortimer, Terry Lamb, George Peponis, Bob McCarthy, Frank Sponberg, Henry Porter, Eddie Burns, John Greaves and Sonny Bill Williams are just some of the superstars who made their names at Canterbury.

The blue-and-whites have also been coached by legendary figures, including Clive Churchill, Phil Gould, Warren Ryan, Ted Glossop, Chris Anderson and Des Hasler.

The club is likely to put together a committee to work out the entry criteria, with inductees likely to be announced at a lavish ceremony to mark the occasion.

RENI MAITUA, MOSES MBYE SAY IT WITH FLOWERS

Rugby league types have come up with some interesting off-field business ventures over the years and this could well be another.

Bulldogs teammates Reni Maitua and Moses Mbye share a blossoming friendship and are looking for a business to invest in ... and a floristry venture is on their list.

"It's not actually my idea, it's a good mate of mine, Reni Maitua," Mbye said.

"I actually live with him at the moment so we're really close. We're thinking about it. Who knows, it might go all right."

DALY CHERRY-EVANS SCONES JUSTIN HORO

There has been plenty of talk about rifts at Manly, but Daly Cherry-Evans could see the funny side of this one.

The Queensland playmaker sconed Sea Eagles teammate Justin Horo with the mother of all falcons, a face ball which literally hit Horo in the face.

"I had to take to social media to apologise publicly," Cherry-Evans said.

"It's warranted; I bought him a beer on the weekend. I've done my best to help mend the wounds but unfortunately I don't think it's any time soon that he's going to talk to me."

When it was suggested Horo shouldn't have gotten into the intended recipient's way, DCE said: "I can't blame Justin, it was a bad pass and he was on the receiving end."

SOUTHS GREAT GEORGE PIGGINS ON INJURY LIST

It's about that time of year, now the Rabbitohs humming in the lead-up to the finals, that journalists start ringing George Piggins.

Will this be the year he returns to the footy to watch his beloved Bunnies live?

It appears the Souths patriarch won't be too active in the short term after checking into hospital for a knee replacement during the week.

His horse, Miss Ainsley – which bears the Souths colours, of course – ran a creditable fourth at a recent race in Gosford.

WAYNE BENNETT, LAURIE DALEY TIPPED FOR ALL STARS

It hasn't been confirmed as yet but expect Wayne Bennett and Laurie Daley to again get the nod as coaches when the All Stars game returns to the league calendar next year.

SUPER LEAGUE MAY INTRODUCE CAPTAIN'S CHALLENGE

There have been plenty of refereeing dramas in league in recent times and it appears the English might be taking a proactive step to do something about it.

Word from our Super League operatives is that they are looking to introduce a captain's challenge. The NRL has been trialling it in the Holden Cup since the beginning of season 2013 but will not follow suit just yet.

"It will again be discussed and reviewed by the NRL competition committee at the completion of this year," an NRL representative said. "But there are no plans to introduce it in the NRL at this stage."

DANNY WICKS, PETER SHARP EELS BOUND

Former Newcastle player Danny Wicks and former Cronulla coach Peter Sharp are likely to resume their careers at Parramatta next year.

Wicks will need the NRL to re-register him but this is considered a formality once he has served his ban. Sharp is poised to return to the Eels, where he was previously an assistant, as a replacement for talent spotter Peter Nolan.

RAELENE CASTLE IN BULLDOGS CHATROOM

There is often a disconnect between fans and their clubs, so it's good to see Bulldogs boss Raelene Castle making herself available. Castle will blog with members from 7-8pm on Tuesday in what will be the first of a series of interactions with punters.

"It's important that Bulldogs supporters feel like they have a voice and I am looking forward to hearing their views," Castle said.

"Bulldogs supporters invest their emotions, their time and their money into our club and I will enjoy taking some time to listen to their feedback and answer their questions.

"I’m hoping to hear people from Belmore to Bourke and even as far away as Boston."
