A glimpse of the future was seen in the Giants vs Magpies game on Saturday afternoon as young Magpie Josh Thomas and No.1 draft pick Josh Kelly starred for their respective clubs. Thomas finished the game with three goals and 29 possessions, which amounted to a huge 133 fantasy points. He certainly looks one for the future, and many a keeper or dynasty league owner will be rushing out to pick him up off the free agents market this week. Giant Josh Kelly has played 17 games this year, but his last couple of appearances have been very impressive performances. On Saturday he finished with 28 possessions, 6 tackles and 117 fantasy points to add to the 140 fantasy points he managed last week against the Demons. Looking toward next year he'll be a speculative late round fantasy selection, and we're hoping he can produce a full year of what he has shown over the past couple of weeks.

It was a dismal performance from the Carlton Football Club on Friday night against an irrepressible Port Adelaide side. 103 points was the margin the Blues lost by, but it wasn't only their football that was poor – their fantasy scoring was well below par. Carlton had just one player score over 90 fantasy points (Bryce Gibbs -113). Port Adelaide accumulated over 100 more possessions than the Blues, who averaged just 13 possessions per player. The Blues looked like they had packed up their bags for this season and are thinking about next year. Carlton play Essendon at the MCG this Saturday and other than Bryce Gibbs I wouldn't be relying on any Blues this week.

Ridiculous 

A massive performance from Toby Greene against the Pies on Saturday afternoon stamped this young man as a fantasy superstar, if he wasn't already. Greene had 30 kicks, 12 handballs, seven marks, five tackles and a goal, amounting to an incredible 165 fantasy points. Greene is a ball magnet at the moment, and is in career-best form since returning from his club-imposed suspension. He has certainly stepped up in the Giants' midfield in the absence of captain Callan Ward and is sure to be a popular 4th-5th round selection in fantasy drafts next season. His potential is limitless as long as he curbs his off-field indiscretions.

Regrettable 

The amount of injuries and suspensions in the AFL to high-profile players over the past two weeks has meant many Ultimate Footy teams have limped into finals with half-strength teams. In addition to the fallout from a disastrous round 21, this week saw injuries to Dane Swan and Matt Suckling while Dustin Martin failed to take the field and Trent Cotchin was well held. This is a devastating loss of high-calibre players and for many fantasy owners, the absence or underperformance of key players would have cost them their season.
