The Virgin Australia terminal was evacuated shortly before 2pm, but the fire was quickly extinguished, Brisbane Airport Corporation said.
"A small fire in the Virgin end of the Domestic Terminal has been contained. There are some evacuations due to smoke," the corporation said via Twitter.
Travellers were allowed to return to the terminal about 20 minutes later.
"The terminal has been given the all clear and re-screening has begun. Minor impacts to flights, contact your airline for details," the corporation said.
