The side have enjoyed a week off as a reward for downing their grand final opponents two weeks ago in the major semi-final.
The Yabbies will look to complete a wonderful season of running rugby with a final result against their oft too frequent rivals, with the season decider the third time that Young and Wagga City will have battled in out in the past four weeks.
The two sides met in Young in the last round of the regular season with City running out 46-5 winners.
But the Yabbies evened the ledger with a dramatic and courageous 47-26 win in extra time over City two weeks ago to reserve their grand final position.
The Second Grade side have been well-served by veterans and new players alike, with busy half-back David Woodward instrumental in sparking attacking raids form a backline bristling with talent including Pete Maher, Roy Jewitt, Jack McMillan and Harrison Back.
The forward platform has been one of the best of the season with Matt Reid, Ben Simmons, Jesh Smith, Tom Wills, Mick Hudson and Wally Everdell stamping their authority on the reserve grade competition.
“I don’t expect to be winning by many points at all to be honest, I think it’s going to be very tight either way, whether we win or lose. Hopefully we can get the job done,” Second Grade coach Mick Hudson said.
“We will have a pretty big bench who all made a difference when they came on two weeks ago.
“We’re probably a lot lighter team than they (Wagga City) are, probably in the scrum they would have 100kg on us quite easliy, if not more, but we’re quite mobile which is an advantage and I expect our points to come from our backs.
“It’s going to be a hard one to win, but it is winnable.”
The Second Grade grand final will kick off 11.35am on Ground 2 at Conolly Rugby Complex, Wagga.
