Ward boarded a flight on Saturday for the trip he has been preparing for during the past two months.
The team has been under a strict training regime, while also using their presence in Canberra’s National Premier League every Sunday for much needed practice.
The bi-annual qualifier sees the AIS Under 17s fall under the Asian group that includes Hong Kong, China and Japan.
If the Australian squad is able to secure a first or second position in Thailand, they will then qualify for the quarter finals of the category.
A victory in the game following the qualifier will secure the Aussies a spot in the World Cup to be held in Chile in 2015.
