They have participated in several fundraising activities for worthwhile charities such as the Heart Foundation’s Jump Rope for Life and Jeans for Genes Day.
All of the students and their families are very supportive of the various charity fundraising days held throughout the year.
They have also been part of the Young Small Schools Concert which was held at the Young High School Hall.
This involved students from Monteagle, Murringo, Maimuru and Wombat Public Schools.
The children worked very hard in the lead-up to the concert as they had songs and marimba pieces to learn, as well as drama performances.
This event wouldn’t be possible without help from the wonderful parents - from driving students to practices, taking photos and helping with costumes.
The students also participated in some fantastic activities during Science Week and Literacy and Numeracy Week.
They played some fantastic maths games and made paper planes to measure how far they could fly, and they read some wonderful books during literacy.
Of all the activities, science was probably the favourite as they were able to make a volcano each and gooey slime - which they could take home.
As usual, Book Week was a big hit with all of the students.
Students and staff dressed up as their favourite book character.
The parents and their children are very creative when it comes to designing costumes.
There were many interesting characters such as a wizard, a witch, Dorothy from Oz, a racing car driver, a dinosaur, Snow White, a fairy, the spider from Charlotte’s Web, the Green Lantern, a princess, Superman, a truck driver, Terrafin, Pocahontas, Winnie the Pooh and a ninja.
During the last week of this term, the primary students have travelled to Victoria for a week’s excursion with the other local small schools.
All the primary students were looking forward to visiting places such as Sovereign Hill at Ballarat, the gold mines at Bendigo and taking a paddle steamer ride at Euchuca - just to name a few.
The school would also like to thank one of their families, Ashley and Kylie Gibbins, who kindly donated two iPads to the school.
Ashley and Kylie are a very busy working couple who are not able to help out at school functions very often and this was their way of helping the school.
Thank you very much to the Gibbins family as this technology will be a great asset to the students.
