The ‘Pickers started to settle down and, after a good backline movement, saw Jacob Hardy get a one-handed offload to the speedy Nic Schiller to score in the corner, 10-4.
Two minutes from half-time and Sam Norton scored a great dummy half try. Jesse converted from out wide to bring the half- time score to 10-all.
Second half started badly when we lost Kuyan Sell with severe concussion and Brady LeStrange with a shoulder injury, both look gone for the rest of the season.
This gave the opportunity for the two Under 15 boys to step up in the shape of Kye Tiedemann to fullback and Jake Baker into the pack.
This allowed Casey Wall, who is always heavily marked, a bit more room to move and he gave the opposing centres plenty of headaches.
With 25 minutes to go, our forwards got a roll on with Willis Arber, Jonah Potts and Mick Berry giving Jesse Corcoran the room to set Jacob Hardy up to score in the corner.
South City never gave up and scored to take the lead 16-14.
Young realised they would have to turn the pace up a bit with Nic Schiller and Kye Tiedemann making plenty of metres and the game turned around pretty quick with Jesse Corcoran scoring two quick tries to take the lead 26-16.
Nic Boland played a power game and continuously stopped South City before they could get a roll on. Jack Barnes is gaining confidence after coming back from a serious shoulder injury and Gus Smith would have to be the most improved back rower in the side.
The final try came from a Nic Schiller break and a chip over the top allowing Jake Baker to follow through and score in the corner.
Final score was 30-16.
