First year back after several years and the stewards John Gerrard and Joe Bargwanna of Bargwanna & Gerrard were overwhelmed with the support that the local farmers and graziers showed with entering a record 132 lambs in this year’s Young Show.
We would like to thank this year’s entrants and judge Anthony Clarke of Manildra Meat Company Pty Ltd of Cootamundra and the butcheries who supported this year’s lamb auction.
Local butcheries Garry’s Gourmet Meats, Donges IGA, Milne’s Country Style Meats and Southern Meats of Goulburn bided aggressively with a pen of six sucker lambs weighing between 18kg and 24 kgs (DSW) sold for $141.00/head to Butchery1888 Certified of Bondi (Sydney) which is owned by Charlie and Pip Crichton.
The tradition of supporting a local show was evident with our overall support from participates.
Our appreciation also goes to this year’s sponsors Quayle Milling, South West Slopes Credit Union and ActewAGL.
Their support has made the Young Show Prime Lambs interesting with the introduction of prize money and products, without their support this would not be possible.

In the stud cattle section this year we had 15 exhibitors up from 9 in 2013. The 15 exhibitors exhibited 50 head up 20 per cent on 2013.
Our entries were drawn from Young, Harden, Cootamundra, Lake Cowal, Roslyn, Goulburn, Camden and Narooma.
In our junior judging and junior handlers competitions we had 32 entrants.
They represented Murrumburrah high School, Cootamundra High School, Red Bend Catholic College, Kia Ora Limousins, Jonesy’s Limousins and Thurloo Park Square meaters.
This was a hotly-contested competition with a number of competitors who have competed and won at Sydney Royal Easter show and various national breed shows.
This, along with the high quality of the cattle exhibited, shows the high regard our show is held.
Our judge for the day was local Malcolm Brewster who has many years of experience in the beef industry and gave great commentary on each class throughout the day.
