You see, the boys were hoping for a few weeks of fishing bliss but their plans to sink a few lines were thrown off course by a fishing trawler off the coast of Darwin on Wednesday morning.
Jason and Rod were part of a party of five who were planning on spending a few weeks fishing off the Northern Territory coast.
The NT News reported a 12 metre catamaran, Norfolk, was drift fishing when it was hit on its starboard side by commercial vessel, Moccasin.
They were fishing in the Charles Point area, off Darwin when the incident occurred.
The catamaran reportedly suffered significant damage to its living quarters.
Despite this the Norfolk was able to make its way back to shore and dock at Fannie Bay.
A man who was in the wheelhouse of the cataramaran at the time of the crash suffered a punctured lung and was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital.
Police investigations are continuing into the incident.
While their holiday plans were cut short, Rod said they would be keen to have a yarn about their time at sea when they return to Young.
Speaking from hospital in Darwin yesterday, Rod said despite being shaken, the group was in good spirits.
